The Story of the K&C Brand

In 2020, while traveling in London, I accidentally took the wrong bus and ended up in an unfamiliar place with my luggage. I stood there, feeling lost, for about half an hour until two men, who looked older than me, approached me. After understanding my situation, they kindly escorted me to the hotel I was trying to reach. Later, after exchanging contact information, I found out that these two men were a gay couple from Turkey, studying at UCL.

Unexpectedly, I found that I had a lot in common with them, and we always had endless topics to talk about. I later learned that they actively spoke up for women's rights and donated to disaster-stricken refugees, which I deeply admired. Despite their many merits, their parents did not support their homosexuality. In early 2023, after a fierce argument with their parents, they fled from Istanbul to southern Turkey. Unfortunately, that very day, a once-in-a-century 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey, and they tragically lost their lives in the disaster.

I was devastated by this news. Why is the gay community always unrecognized by the world? They were just in love with each other; why should gender matter? They actively voiced their support for women and the disadvantaged. Should their sexual orientation negate their contributions? I firmly believe that love is love, regardless of gender. I hope everyone can find their true love without being troubled by societal prejudices.

The two brothers were named Kristen and Christen. The name of the shop, K&C, is derived from their names. It represents my hope for greater acceptance of homosexuality by society. In the future, a portion of the shop's proceeds will be donated to charitable organizations to continue the benevolence of these brothers.
